Paphos Region

On the west coast of Cyprus you will enjoy stunning coastline views. This breathtaking scenery is a key reason why many people choose a holiday villa in Paphos (Cyprus maps often spell it Pafos). Another major attraction is that this is a prime shopping area with both supermarkets and traditional market stalls attracting buyers. Whatever your reasons for considering buying a holiday villa, Paphos (or Cyprus in general) will not disappoint you. It is therefore a key tourist region all year round. As many people are looking in this region for a Paphos villa, Cyprus residents with a property for sale (in Paphos or in the region) know that they will easily attract buyers.

Paphos appears on the UNESCO World Heritage List as it has several archaeological treasures: Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Castle are two of many stunning ancient ruins to be explored. There is also the Paphos Aquarium and Bird Park, or you may prefer to go sightseeing along the coastline to the beautiful Akamas peninsula. If you are slightly more adventurous you may wish to join one of the Jeep Safaris. All in all the region has something for everyone, all year round. So if you are looking for a holiday villa in Paphos, Cyprus in general has a lot to offer however this region has its special attractions.

Kato Paphos (Lower Paphos) is situated by the harbour.  Up the hill is Ktima (Upper Paphos). There are shops galore in Kato Paphos. Whilst some shops sell the usual tourist paraphernalia, there are excellent jewellery shops here. Gold (usually 18 carat) is very reasonably priced. Most precious stones are well priced so it is a shopper’s paradise! Many feel this is an ideal place for a holiday villa as Paphos is Cyprus’s jewel in the crown. However we British also like our traditional high street shops so you will find Marks & Spencer and Debenhams stores here. Those of us who buy a Paphos villa in Cyprus take full advantage of these stores to furnish our homes with style, with all the bits and bobs we British find so useful.

Up the hill to Ktima (upper Pafos) you will find an abundance of shops. Here is a fascinating mélange of East meets West fashion! At Markarios Avenue you will usually find a stall selling a delicious local delicacy called” Loukoumades” - tiny honey dipped doughballs (a bit like small sweet doughnuts). The indoor market is packed with interesting stalls selling spices, lace & fabrics, snacks and local honey. The outside stalls are mainly farmers selling direct to the public. It is a thriving, bustling place. Like others you may feel this is the perfect location to purchase a holiday villa, as Paphos is Cyprus at its best. Of course, all these variety of places to visit and shops are on display under the glorious sunshine. 340 days of sunshine considerably enhances the attraction! Shopping at these markets all year round is simply delightful. So if your heart is set on a holiday villa in Paphos, Cyprus has a lot to offer.
