Ponds are beautiful, but they can become quite expensive. However, there are some ways to cut down on the costs and still have a pond that looks great.
How to Build a Pond and Save Money:
1.Find a great spot in your yard. Try to make sure that there are no trees and bushes that will shed their leaves into your pond. Another great idea is to place your cheap pond in an area where you can see it from the windows inside, or from your deck or patio.
2.Buy a small kid pool in the shape and size you want your pond to be. You can usually pick these up for under 10 bucks and it is a nice cheat for how to build a pond and save money at the same time. You can also usually find these in great shapes that will make your pond very pretty. I have seen them come in shapes such as stars, fish or even seashells!
3.Put the pool on the ground where you want your pond to go. Then mark around the area. Dig the hole using the markings for guides. Then you simply place the kiddy pool inside. Make sure the hole is just deep enough to leave the kiddy pool lip about 1-2 inches above the ground.
4.Now get out your spray paint and paint the whole pool black and let it sit overnight to dry.
5.Add in a pump and filter to keep things flowing so the water does not go stagnant. You don't really have to add this, but a lot of people choose to do so.
6.The next step in learning how to build a pond is to add a few heavy rocks around the edges of the pool. Then you can add gravel if you're planning on putting plants in the pond.
7.Now all you need to do is fill the pond up with water. You are finished! You just completed a pond and saved money at the same time.
